Casting, forming, machining, welding, and powder metallurgy are the chief manufacturing processes, where welding or joining are the most vital activities. Teaching welding technology in collaboration with an industry is a step forward in the direction of dealing with the subject in its total perspective including the theoretical and practical aspects to the required depth and width. At institute level, we generally do not have skilled technicians who can demonstrate the technology to the students so that it can lead to a professional international certification. Institute faculty can take care of the theoretical aspects and industry experts can deal with the practical aspects of the subject.
